Lasso tool

The Lasso tool is useful for drawing freeform segments of a selection range. Select the Lasso tool, and set feathering and anti-aliasing in the options bar. (Soften the edges of the selections.) To add, subtract, or differentiate with the existing selection, click the corresponding button in the options bar.

Polygon Lasso

Photoshop's Polygonal Lasso tool, one of its basic selection tools, is like a cross between the rectangular marquee tool and the standard Lasso tool, both of which we saw in previous tutorials. This allows us to easily design a free-selection framework based on straight-sided polygon shapes.

Magnetic lasso

The magnetic lasso tool is particularly useful for quickly selecting objects with complex edges set against a high-contrast background. Select the Magnetic Lasso Tool. Specify one of the selection options in the options bar. (Optional) Set feathering and anti-aliasing in the options bar.

Magic wand

Magic wand tool is a selection tool. This allows you to select areas of your images and make independent edits to it. It is often used to select solid backgrounds and color areas.

Quick Selection

Quick Selection tool. You can use the Quick Selection tool to quickly "paint" a selection using an adjustable round brush tip. As you drag, the selection expands outward and automatically finds and follows defined edges in the image. Select the Quick Selection tool

Anti-aliasing

Anti-aliasing is the smoothing of jagged edges in digital images by averaging the colors of pixels over a border. The letter on the left is aliased. The letter on the right has anti-aliasing applied to make the edges appear smoother.
